Lots of Pictures...

 Minutes after she was born

Mommy's first time seeing her. They were still working on me so I couldn't hold her. One thing I absouletly hated about having a c-section is I wasn't able to hold her at all or see her more than a couple of minutes until about 3 hours after she was born.

 Daddy's princess!

I love these mittens...too cute. Ramon calls them her boxing gloves.

Grammy's little girl!

Grandma spoils her already!

Welcome Baby Ashlyn!

We are so excited to announce that Ashlyn Avery arrived at 5:39 pm on November 9, 2010. She was 8 lbs, 4 oz and 21 inches long.

I went in for the biophysical profile and non-stress test on Tuesday morning and when they preformed the ultrasound we found out that there was hardly any amniotic fluid left and she was upside down! The doctor thought all along that she was head down so everyone was very surprised. Because she was breech, the only option was a c-section and it had to be done that day because there wasn't enough amniotic fluid and because I didn't want to start labor with her in the breech position. I was pretty nervous before and during the procedure, especially since everything was happening so fast and I didn't expect to have to have a c-section. Everything went well and she came out a healthy baby.

She is four days old today and we're falling in love with her more and more. She is just so precious! I've been feeling okay, but it's been a struggle trying to recover. It's getting a little better everyday. We got home from the hospital yesterday afternoon.

We really appreciate everyone for praying and sending us sweet notes. Anyone is welcome to come see Ashlyn at our house. All we ask is that you call or send us a text before you come.

Due Date Has Come...and Gone

I’ve been counting down to my due date for the past 35 weeks (figuring I found out I was pregnant at 5 weeks) and now the numbers are counting UP!

COME ON ASHLYN!!!!!
I’m now 40 weeks and 1 day pregnant and this day is almost over. I’ve been trying some of the natural labor inducing methods like walking, acupressure points (though I’m probably not getting those totally right), and uhhh….well, we won’t mention the other one.

On the upside, yesterday I had a doctor’s appointment and I’m finally 2 centimeters dilated, 50% effaced (that’s just means how thin the cervix is…you’re 100% effaced when the baby comes out), and the doctor said she’s further down in the birth canal (I didn’t ask exactly what position). I have the non-stress test scheduled for next Tuesday morning.

Please pray that she will come soon…very soon! And of course, please pray that everything goes okay during labor and delivery with both of us. :)

Still No Ashlyn...

Here's a picture of me at 38 weeks, 5 days.

And today, at 39 weeks, 3 days. We're starting to get a little impatient. I'm not dilated at all and my due date is just a few days away. My next appointment is on my due date, November 3. If I haven't had her by then, they will schedule a non-stress test for 5 days after my due date to make sure she's okay, there's enough amniotic fluid, and the placenta is holding up okay. If everything is fine, they will let me go five more days before they induce...we're really hoping I'll have her before then. I'm starting to get more and more uncomfortable by the day with swelling, backaches, and Ashlyn get getting bigger. My goal is to have her naturally (meaning no c-section and no drugs)...not to be a hero, but we feel that is the best choice to make if the pain in bearable. I feel pretty strongly about having her naturally, so I really don't want to be induced.  We so can't wait for her to be here!

More Cuteness...

This is a custom made diaper bag we ordered from Nana's Gifts (you can find her page on Facebook). The price was VERY reasonable and the bag came out great! She has a big selection of diaper bags but she also makes other things, like custom bibs, cups, plates, duffle bags, towels, etc.

This is a hand-made gift from one of my co-workers. It's so adorable and it matches her room perfectly!

Work Baby Shower

My co-workers threw me a shower on Friday. We got a lot of stuff! We are so thankful! They are all great people and I really enjoy working with them. Ramon is off on Fridays so he was able to come. It was nice to have him there.
One of my co-workers made the cake. She did and awesome job! Super cute!

Ramon even got something...a Daddy Emergency Kit. It was in a tackle box that included caffeine pills, clothes pins for the nose when changing a dirty diaper, chocolate (to give me when I get hormonal, lol), Tylenol for him, 1 diaper, and a whole pack of wipes.

This hamper is one of the gifts we got at the shower. It matches her bedding. It looks so cute in her room!

One of my co-workers made this for Ashlyn. It is adorable!! We love it! Here's some close up pics...
